Bowling was born 22 March 1852 Sulligent, Marion County, Alabama, now Lamar County, Alabama. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Bowling was reared in Marion County Alabama graduating from Vernon institute with the highest of honors of his class in 1890. He was elected County Superintendent of Education in 1886. He was affiliated with the Masons and Odd Fellows, being secretary of Lodge No. 389, in the former, and a past grand in the latter. Bowling Wilkerson married Millie Atkins, 7 May 1878. He passed away 22 March 1928 Columbus, Lowndes County, Mississippi. He was buried in Vernon, Lamar County, Alabama. [1]
