My research

I started researching my family tree at the beginning of 2014. You can see my progress at http://familytree.derekjwhitten.id.au

In May 2016 I imported a GEDCOM file into Wikitree in order to contribute my research to the broader tree and hopefully find some new connections and researchers who are also researching my family. I'm in the process of working through the imported profiles to clean up their biographies.

In brief:

1. Use your answer post to record your Source-a-Thon count.

Source-a-Thon starts at 2pm on the east coast, 1.30pm in the centre, and 12 noon in the west. For those joining us in NZ, I believe it will be 5pm for you.

Hi,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

I've recently started researching my family tree. I have been collating my information in my own installation of Webtrees, but came across Wikitree last week.

After uploading my GED Com file I'd like to start contributing to Wikitree to help connect other people with the ancestors I have uncovered, and also further my own family research by linking my family into the global tree.
