Biography

parents: George L. and Selma (Anderson) Whitney

during his senior year at Potlatch High School in 1943. He joined the United States Army Air Corps and soon became a staff sergeant, being sent to England where he served as a flight engineer on a B-17, the Lastest Rumor, flying over Europe for an extraordinary 35 missions for the 351st Bombardment Squadron, the 100th Bombardment Group and receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery under fire as well as a Silver Star.

married Beverly Joyce Smith at Potlatch, Idaho, May 21, 1948.

preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, in October 2008; brothers Delbert, Bob and Gordon; and a sister, Shirley.
