Research Notes

Bates' Biography of Abraham Gump states that Dorcas is the daughter of William Whitlatch and Nancy Veach and was born in New Jersey. Either the the FamilySearch Tree or Bates is likely incorrect as it is VERY unlikely that Dorcas Whitlach Critchfield and Dorcas Whitlach Gump have the same parents. More Research is necessary to determine her parents. There is no evidence that the descendents of Dorcas (Whitlatch) Gump have any relationship to the Doddridge W. VA Whitlatch family.
