Fergus John White was born in May 1856 in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence, New York to Irish immigrants John White and Nancy.
He married Ellen LaRue around 1883 in Ogdensburg and together they had seven children. To support the family, Fergus worked as a farmer.
Fergus passed away on 26 May 1912 at his home in Ogdensburg after a period declining health, and was buried three days later.
Fergus J. White, a former well-known farmer of this town, died Sunday afternoon in his late residence, 55 Clark street, in his fifty-sixth year. Mr. White had been in poor health for some time past. He is survived by his wife and the following children: John, Jennie, Lillian, Helen, Ruth, Frances and Mrs. Arthur Powell. Mr. White was a consistent member of St. Mary's parish and the funeral will be held at the cathedral Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. Mr. White was a man of excellent repute and had many friends who will regret to hear of his demise.
