Biography
Jared Whitaker was born in 1818 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the grandson of Georgia Governor, Jared Irwin. He served as Atlanta's 14th Mayor in 1861. He was also the publisher of The Daily Intelligencer, an Atlanta newspaper.[1]
Jared was married twice. He first married Susan Mabry Taliaferro on December 30, 1847 in Fayette County, Georgia.[2] After her death, he then married Nannie E. Allen on September 7, 1854 in Fulton County, Georgia.[3]
