Biography

Calvin was born about 1777 in Rhode Island. He was the son of Daniel Wheelock and Keziah Hunt.

Calvin married Edith (possibly Edith Stafford) sometime before 1800. Calvin and Edith lived in Luzerne Co, Pennsylvania, but relocated to the Cortland County area in New York with in a few years, according to the birth places reported by their children. Calvin and Edith had the following known children:

  1. Keziah (b 1800 P) m. Joseph Benedict
  2. Amos (possible - see research notes)
  3. Seth
  4. Calvin

After Edith's death in 1816, Calvin married Nancy (last name unknown). Calvin and Nancy had the following (known) children:

  1. Melancton
  2. Daniel
  3. Lyman (possible)
  4. Nancy Edith (possible, or possibly child of Phebe)

Nancy died in 1827 and Calvin married a third time to Phebe (last name unknown. By 1830, Calvin had relocated to Pitcher, Chenango County, New York. Children from this marriage:

  1. Jerusha
  2. Clarissa (possible)


Calvin passed away in 1851 and is buried in Ufford Corners Cemetery.[1]

Calvins first wives, Edith and Nancy, have separate FindAGrave.com memorials. Both are buried in the Cincinnatus Cemetery, under surname Whealock. So I think this clarifies who his three wives are, and will allow us to identify which children were born to which wife. I've added the FindAGrave references to the sources.
