Thanks for the welcome, Sheryl. I have no questions about the Honor Code, or anything else at the moment. I've done extensive ancestry work at Ancestry and FamilySearch, and used info from other places such as WikiTree without joining. My most intensive work was in 2016. My aunt, as a member of LDS, had extensive information she left me when she passed. In 2016 I added to it considerably. Her work, done well before the Internet existed, is astonishing in its amount and accuracy. I have now joined WikiTree and other sites because of having my DNA results, and because 7 years have passed since I focused on this work.

Thank you!

Well, I DO have a question for a perplexing problem I just discovered that I did indeed join WikiTree in 2016. I even uploaded my DNA data then. I also added quite a few entries on my tree. Also, my email address used then is no longer functioning or available so I cant log in to that old account.

I learned all of this when I tried to enter my father for the new account and was told I needed to be trusted to do so - trusted by me from the old account. Goodness gracious. Is there any way to merge the two accounts, or shift info to my new one, etc? That would include the GEDMatch and yourDNAportal information, which I added today to the new account, but had not done so in 2016. Please help!

Hi, Randall

This page lists information on how to add your DNA kit and work with it on WikiTree: How to Get Started with DNA. Note that your raw DNA is not loaded to WikiTree.

Do you have the previous account's ProfileID or URL (web address)? If so, you can request that the accounts be merged by emailing info at wikitree dot com. Also, give them your previous email address and confirm your present account; you should have received an email to confirm it. Check your junk/spam folder if it isn't in your Inbox.

WikiTree has had many changes since 2016. If you need more assistance, you can send me a private message.

I hope this helps.

Hi Randall

Welcome to WikiTree!! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as one collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests with your tags.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here!

Dorothy, Wikitree Greeter.
