Gladys (Wertz) Willett has German Roots.

Gladys, daughter of Wilson Wertz and Lillie Muck, was born 5 September 1901 in Cardington, Morrow County, Ohio.^[1]

Before 1910 the family relocated to Knoxville, Knox County, Illinois. The household on Market Street encompassed Wilson (age 44), his second wife Verna Wertz (34), - Florence M. (17), Grover W. (16), Forrest H. (11, b. Illinois), Gladys Nellie Wertz (8, b. Ohio).^[2]

Perhaps he missed the rural life. By 1920, Wilson (age 54, farmer on own land), Verna F. (44), Forrest H. (21, farmhand) and Gladys M. Wertz (18) had moved to Elba Township, Knox County
