Elizabeth was born in 1735. On December 6, 1764 Elizabeth Wells married Samuel Adams Jr. She was the daughter of Francis Wells an English merchant and friend of Sam Adams. The couple had no children , but Elizabeth raised Samuel and Hannah as her own.
Elizabeth Wells Adams (1735-1808): Combining her husband’s, Samuel Adams, inability to manage money with the fact that their home and livelihood had been demolished through the war, you’d think they wouldn’t be able to find a way to live. But Elizabeth had such talent for sewing and embroidery that she used her skills to singlehandedly maintain a comfortable lifestyle for her family.
In 1764, Adams married for the second time, this time to Elizabeth Wells. Wells was twenty-four at the time, eighteen years younger than Adams. Wells was quite attractive and helped Adams maintain a respectable image in Boston.
