Elizabeth (age 77) died on 1 April 1747 and was buried in Long Hill Cemetery, Connecticut, United States.[2]

In the Name of God amen I Elifabeth Shelton of Stratford in fairfield County being aged and sick and apprehenfive of being Near My End but through y’e Goodnefs of God have y’e ufe of Reafon & understanding and knowing y’t it is appointed for all to die thing (sic) beft to make this my Laft Will and teftament and firft of all I freely Refigne My Soul into y’e hands of God who Gave it hopeing and trufting in Marcy of God and y’e Merits Jefus Chrift My ownly Saveour & Redeemer to find pardon & acceptance and my body to be Commited to y’e duft from whence it was taken to a defent buriall at y’e defcretion of my Executor here after Named and as for what Worldly Goods & Eftate it hath pleafed y’e Lord to befto upon me I freely Give & bequeath as followeth -
in y’e firft place my Will is that all my Juft debts and funarel Expences shall be firft paid and satisfied

and my will further is that all y’e Reft of my Eftate Shall be Equilly divided between My Children here after Named that is to Say Joseph Shelton daniel Shelton Thaddeus Shelton Sam’ll Shelton James Shelton & Josiah Shelton to them & there heirs for Ever - and I do hereby Confitute and appoint my trufty and Loveing friend Capt Richard Hubbell of Stratford to be my Sole Executor of this my Laft will and teftament hereby Revoking and Makeing Null & void all other & former wills by me here to fore Made Ratyfing & Confirming this to be my Laft will & Teftament in witnefs whereof I do hereby Signe Seal publifs & declare this to be Laft will & teftament
ELSIBATH SHELTON
Her inventory was taken on 13 April 1747. It included the following enslaved persons, a man named Abel, a woman named Sibb (they were valued together, not separate), a girl named "Darkess" (Dorcas), a 6-year-old girl not named, and a three-year-old boy not named.[5]
