Biography
- Magnus I. "der Fomme", Herzog des Fürstentums Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel
Magnus I "der Fromme", joint duke of Brunswick in Göttingen, was the son of Albrecht II of Brunswick and Rixa von Werle[1][2].
He married Sophie of Brandenburg, daughter of Henry "Lackland" of Brandenburg and Agnes of Bavaria. They had the following children:
- Mathilde, married Bernhard III, prince of Anhalt-Bernburg
- Magnus II, duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg
- Albert, archbishop of Bremen
- Heinrich, canon, provost of Halberstadt Cathedral
- Otto
- Ludwig, co-regent of Lüneburg
- Agnes, married Count Henry of Hohnstein
- Sophie, married Count Dietrich of Hohnstein
- Ernst[1].
He had the following children by his mistress, Gesa von Vechelde:
- Albrecht
- Heinrich
- Magnus
- Otto[1].
Duke Magnus died in 1369.
