Biography

Oral was born in 1920. He was the son of Harve T. Weldon and Florence Belle (South) Weldon.

Oral Marion Weldon, age 93, was born on January 25, 1920, in Iowa to Harve and Florence Weldon. His childhood was spent on a farm outside of Barnard, Missouri.

Oral was married to Mary Margaret Kimple. (deceased in 2006), for 64 years and lived in Wichita, Kansas.

Oral and Margaret moved to California in 2003 to be closer to their only child, Delores "Dee" (Weldon) White; grandchild, Lexie White Strain; her husband, David; and great grandson, Samuel Weldon Strain.

His extended family included his brothers, Thurman (deceased) and George of Graham, Missouri; nieces; Darlene Patton, Wanda Knauer and Arlene Weldon and nephew, Kirby Weldon; step-grandchildren & great grandchildren; Bryce Bigwood, Erika Bigwood Keaton (Holly, Hannah and Rose) and Erin Bigwood Hanley (Brynn).

After graduation from Horace Mann High School in Maryville, Missouri, he trained at the Fairfax Aviation School in Kansas City. He worked for Beech Aircraft for 43 1/2 years developing systems and managing engines, propellers, instrument and function testing and radar. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II from '42 - '45 repairing/maintaining military aircraft in Hutchinson, Kansas and serving on the USS Norton Sound in the Pacific.

He enjoyed shooting skeet with the Beech-crafter team; hunting with his dog, Amber, on the Kimple farm in Coldwater, Kansas; fishing at their cabin on Lake Wabaunsee; dancing to big band and country music; and playing cards, (especially Pitch), with his family, neighbors and friends.

Oral passed away in 2013 and was laid to rest in the Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto, Santa Clara County, California, USA.

The funeral service was held at Alta Mesa Cemetery in Palo Alto, California at 11:00 a.m. on October 25, 2013, with a reception following the service.
