John was born in 1854. He married Hannah Jane Mulherrin on November 11, 1883, in Somerville, Massachusetts. They had ten children in 18 years. He died on July 15, 1931, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 77, and was buried in Calvary Cemetery, East Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.
