Flag of Prussia
Michael Weier was born in the Province of Brandenburg, Prussia

Michael Friedrich Wilhelm Weier was born on the 19th May 1846, in Bertikow, Walsleben, Ostprignitz-Ruppin, Brandenburg, Prussia, the son of Gottfried Weier and Christiane Gruhl.

Michael Friedrich Wilhelm Weier married Justine Luise Wilhelmine Auguste Strohfeldt in Damme, Brandenburg, Prussia.
Over the next few years Michael Friedrich Wilhelm and Justine Luise Wilhelmine had four known children: Ferdinand Friedrich Wilhelm, August Friedrich Michael Wilhelm, Wilhelm Friedrich Michael, and Anna Auguste Emilie. (They eventually had fifteen children, thirteen of whom were still living in 1936.)

In early 1877 the Weier family packed up and emigrated to Queensland, Australia, travelling on the ship "Charles Dickens" which sailed from Hamburg on the 5th April. They are written on the passenger list as Weyer; Michael (aged 30), Justine (aged 25), Ferdinand (aged 8), August (aged 6), Wilhelm (aged 4), Anna (aged 1).[1]
After an exceedingly cramped voyage, instead of being able to disembark in their new country, the ship was towed to the Quarantine station Peel Island due to disease running rife. There had been 17 deaths on the voyage, and another 4 deaths occurred on Peel Island. (As the larger number of deaths were children, the total tally of "statutory adults" was 6 for the voyage, and 2 for the island. The age of the child determined just what percentage of a "statutory adult" would be counted.) After a quarantine period of seven weeks, the "Charles Dickens" finally arrived in Brisbane on the 4th September.
During their time on Peel Island, the Weier family had grown by one, as son Gustav August Adolf was born there on the 26th August.
Once established in their new home, the family kept on growing, as more children arrived; sons: Friedrich Michael, Hermann Friedrich, Franz, Otto Wilhelm, and Ernst Friedrich,; and daughters: Wilhelmine Justine, Emilie Helena, and Auguste Martha. (There should be another two children born in Queensland.)

Michael Friedrich Wilhelm Weier passed away in Queensland, Australia in 1932.[2]

He is buried in Mondure-Wheatlands Lutheran Cemetery, Queensland
