Biography

Christopher Webster was born in Virginia. He was married to Hannah, who's birth name has not been found. He appeared on the 1800 Kentucky Tax List as being a resident of Fayette County. He then appeared in Jessamine County during the 1810 with 4 sons, 4 daughters and his wife. At present, his parentage has not been determined. While the possibility exists he was related to the other Webster men who were pioneers of Fayette County, more research needs to be done.

Christopher enlisted in the War of 1812 and served two tours. He served under Colonel John Allen in the 3rd regiment of the Mounted Kentucky Volunteers. Christopher also served in a company raised by Captain Mason Singleton, which was one of two Jessamine County companies in the Battle of the Thames, fought June 13, 1813, under Colonel George Trotter.

After his service, Christopher returned to Jessamine County and there died before the 1820 census. His will was dated 27th of August in 1813 citing perfect health. He mentioned his beloved wife Hannah and "all my children" leaving a mare to his daughter Nelly. His will was witnessed by Robert Lowry, David and Samuel C. Steele, and proved in Jessamine County during the June 1814 County Court.

Christopher Webster bequeathed the entirety of his property to his widow Hannah, who survived him many years. Hannah appeared at age 96 in the 1850 census. Her given age is a bit older than she was listed in earlier records but Christopher's birth is estimated from the estimate of hers. Hannah died shortly after the 1850 census. Christopher's estate was finally settled by the division of his land among his children, or heirs of those deceased, by a Jessamine County Court order during the October term in 1852. The land was surveyed and divided accordingly, recorded 9 May 1853, to include;[1]

Lot #1 to Pleasant Easley (assignee of several heirs)
Lot #2 to Jonathan Webster
Lot #3 to Robert Webster's Heirs (not named)
Lot #4 to Achilles Webster
Lot #5 to Nellie Veatch
Lot #6 allotted to two of the heirs at law of said Christopher Webster, John Beckum married the two sisters, one which died some time since [Sally and Polly Webster].

Christopher is often said to be a son of Daniel Webster and Mary "Polly" Vardeman, of Virginia, but "because he died prior to Daniel, was not included in Daniel's Will." This scenario does not fit with the determined heirs of Daniel, through later court proceedings and estate records, and it is more likely Christopher and Daniel were cousins, brothers, or in other ways related. There certainly is evidence to support their families were connected.

Pleasant Easley, born abt 1790, also served in the War of 1812. He and his wife moved to Missouri between 1852 &1860. Any and all sources or information are ALWAYS welcome to be added.
