Henry Constantine Wayne was a United States Army officer, Confederate Adjutant and Inspector-General for Georgia and a Brigadier General during the American Civil War. Graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1838. Participated in the Aroostook and Mexican-American wars. Wayne was known for his commanding the expedition to test the US Camel Corps as part of Secretary of War Jefferson Davis's plan to use camels as a transport in the West.[1]
Son of James Moore Wayne and Mary Johnson Campbell. Husband of Mary Louisa Nicoll. [2] Henry passed away in 1883. Final resting place in Laurel Grove Cemetery (North), Savannah, Georgia.[3]
