Biography

Harriet Watts was born in 1825 in Tysoe, Warwickshire, England to Edward Watts and Elizabeth (Freeman) Watts. She was christened on 7 Jun 1825 in Tysoe.^[1]

In 1841 Harriett Watts (age 15-19) lived in Lower Tysoe with her father Edward (35-39, ag lab), mother Elizabeth (40-44), and her grandmother Hannah Freeman (70-74, pauper).^[2]

In The Year 1845 in Tysoe, Warwickshire: "Banns of Marriage between William Gardner and Harriet Watts both of this Parish were published in the Three Sundays underwritten; That is to say, On Sunday the 12th Oct, On Sunday the 19th Oct, On Sunday the 26 Oct."^[3] Harriet Watts and William Gardner were then married on 6 Nov 1845 in Tysoe.^[4]

Harriet and William had seven children: Ann Gardner (1846-), John Gardner (1849-), Frederick William Gardner (1851-1923), Sarah Jane Gardner (1853-), Emily Gardner (1857-1857), Eliza (Gardner) Phillips (1861-), and Walter Gardner (1864-).

In 1851 Harriet Gardner (age 26) lived in Tysoe with her husband William (32, tailor) and two children: Ann (4) and John (1).^[5]

In 1861 Harriet Gardner (age 35) lived in Lower Tysoe with her husband William (40, tailor) and four children: John (12), Frederick (9), Sarah J (7), and Eliza (1 month).^[6]

In 1871 Harriet Gardner (age 45) lived in Church Tysoe with her husband William (50, tailor) and six children: Annie (21, general servant), John (20, groom), Frederick (18, agricultural labourer), Sarah (16, general servant), Eliza (9), and Walter (6).^[7]

Harriet's husband William Gardner passed away in early 1881.^[8]

In 1881 Harriet Gardner (age 56) lived in Tysoe with her son Walter (15, general labourer).^[9]

Harriet Gardner passed away in late 1885, aged 60 years.^[10] She was buried in Tysoe on 24 Dec 1885.^[11]
