Biography

Neal Watson is a part of US Black heritage.

Neal Watson was born in 1898. He was the son of Neal Watson and Mary Alice Smith.^[1]

Neal married Inez (Reddick) Watson (abt.1891-aft.1951) in 1915.^[2] Neal and Inez were married for 36 years. They lived in Newport News where Neal was a riveter. The couple had one child, Vernon, who died as a toddler. Neal and Inez were divorced in 1951.^[3]

In 1953, he married Elizabeth Perley Washington.^[1]

Neal died in 1981.^[4] He is buried in Pleasant Shade Cemetery, Hampton, Virginia.

Research Notes

• Neal has not been located on the 1920 and 1930 U.S. census records.

• At the time of the 1950 U.S. Census Neal and Inez identified themselves as divorced. Neal was living with Inez's sister's widow, Cicero Smith. The lodger in that household was Elizabeth Anne (Perley) Watson (1921-).

• Neal's middle name of Leonard only appears on the divorce records. It does not appear on his draft registration cards.
