Biography

Thomas was born in August 1876. He was the son of Nathaniel Watkins and Rosanna (Wicker) Watkins. He marrried Ola (Liner) Watkins in February 1900 in her native Alamance County, signing their wedding certificate with an X, implying he could not read or write well enough to correct the record misspelling both their family names. He is listed as "medium & short" in height with a "stout" build in his World War I draft registration record.
