Samuel was born about 23 Aug 1798 in New York.
On 14 July 1814, Samuel enlisted at Jefferson, New York in the U. S. Army, engaged in the War of 1812. He was reported by Lt. Beckman or Major Wallace to have deserted during war less than three weeks later on 1 August 1814. He was described in the report as 5 ft. 8in. tall and 21 years old.[1]
Samuel Warner claimed an amount of $75.00 as a soldier of the War of 1812.[2]
In the 1840 census Samuel (abt 53) was in McHenry, Illinois, United States.[3]
In the 1850 census Samuel (age 62), Farmer, was in Richmond, McHenry, Illinois, United States.[4] Their son Stanton D. Warner (36) lived next door with his wife Harriet and children Allen D and Emmerson. In the 1855 census both Samuel and his son Stanton lived in Richmond, McHenry, Illinois, United States.[5]
Samuel (73) lived in Richmond, McHenry county, Illinois with his wife Mary Warner (70) in 1860. No occupation is listed. Their home was valued at $2000. Samuel's daughter Harriett lived nearby with her family.[6]
He passed away 5 December 1860. His wife Serviah died the 13th of December. His estate was probated 20 December 1860. No will was found. Stanton, his eldest son, petitioned to have Edwin McOwen administer the estate, valued at $6000.[7] Samuel is buried at Richmond Cenetery, McHenry county, Illinois, USA.[8]
Samuel Warner and Zerviah (Stanton) Warner settled in McHenry County, Illinois, between 1834 and 1880.[9]
Samuel Warner is listed as an ancestor of Linden Carme Trow and descendant of Captain Phineas Stanton in Linden's application for Sons of the American Revolution membership. [10]
