His son Nathaniel commanded a company at Bunker Hill, and was afterwards in Washington's army."[7] Pringle also cites Philemon as foremost of the "influential and prominent proprietors" whose efforts led to the construction of the first schoolhouse in the harbor area of Gloucester in 1742.[8] His son Philemon Warner Jr. and Mary Prince were married on November 3, 1726, in Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts.[9][10]
