Martha (Walker) McNair is a part of US Black heritage.
Martha (Walker) McNair was born in North Carolina.
Martha Jane Walker[1] was born March 15, 1897 in Plymouth, North Carolina, to parents Anthony Walker and Martha Jane Baker; her parents were ages 46 and 43 respectively at the time[2][3]. Martha lived in Washington and Edgecombe counties for the duration of her life[4][5][6], marrying Abraham Lincoln McNair Sr. on January 14, 1920, at the age of 22; they married at her father's home[7]. They were the parents of at least 9 children (7 sons and 3 daughters), with only 4 living to adulthood (3 sons and 1 daughter).
She and Abraham purchased their home at 502 Wilson Street in Plymouth for only $400[8]; a home they rebuilt after a fire destroyed it in the 1950s. Martha outlived her husband, who died in 1974, and lived until September 24, 1991[9][10]. She was buried September 28, 1991, in the family cemetery, the Rufus McNair Cemetery, in Plymouth, North Carolina[11].
