Biography

Peter Walker performed Patriotic Service in Louisiana Militia in the American Revolution.

Peter Walker is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A119578.

Peter Walker was born in 1753 to John and Mary Walker of Brimington near Chesterfield in Derbyshire. He was baptised at Chesterfield on 8 April 1753.^[1] (The baptism record does not specify Brimington, but the records of their later children do.)

Peter immigrated to the Spanish Territory, in what is the modern day Natchez, Mississippi-Louisiana Micropolitan Statistical area, historically considered part of the Natchez District. During the American Revolution, Peter Walker served with Galvez's Spanish Unit, in the New Orleans Militia. ^[2]

Peter Walker is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR ancestor #A119578. DAR records indicate that Peter died in 1803, in Natchez, Mississippi and that he was the husband of two wives. His first wife, Charlota Constancia Revol/Revoil was of French Ancestry. It is interesting to note that French women of this timeframe did not assume their husband's names at the time of marriage.

Joseph Marshall Walker (1784 - 1856) was a son of Peter's first wife, who became the 13th Governor of Louisiana. ^[3]

Applications for membership in the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have been made by the descendants of Joseph Marshall Walker and his wife, Catherine Carter. ^[4]
