entry in The Connection in East Tennessee book by Izora Waters Frizell, pp113, "James M. Walker had a burlap sack that held nine bushels of wheat. This he could carry full on his shoulders up the ramp into the storage shed". Thus, and because he was a horse trader, he was nicknamed "Hoss".
