Both the Cotten and Wadlington Families were in North Carolina by 1776 and stayed until at least 1790. The Wadlington's had arrived in Christian County Kentucky in 1792 and Thomas Wadlington had been killed in 1803 by Indians. There was also a note in the papers of Sarah Wadlington Armstrong that Jane Wadlington, who married a man by the name of Langley, also married Benjamin Cotten.

Hi! I am a descendent of Benjamin and Jane Cotten. Can anyone clarify for me how Jane Wadlington becomes the Jane Langley that marries Benjamin Cotten? I see that Jane Langley marries Benjamin Cotten, but I'm not sure I understand how Jane Wadlington becomes Jane Langley? Any insight appreciated - thank you so much!
Family documents and-I believe-family Bibles, state that Jane was married to a Langley, possibly Jessie, before she married Benjamin Franklin Cotten. There were no known (surviving) children from this marriage.
