Biography

Thomas was born about 1642. He was the son of Thomas Vynor and Honor Hudson. He passed away about 1666.

Thomas died 14 February 1666/7 and was buried at Cree Church. On 1 August 1673 he was reinterred in St Mary Woolnoth as intended but which had not been possible 'by reason the Church was not built then since the dredfull fire'.[1]

Thomas left a will dated 25 November 1666, proved 13 February 1667.[2] In his will he mentioned

  • Sir George Vyner, brother
  • Thomas Vyner, nephew, eldest son of George
  • George Vyner, nephew, other son of George
  • Sir Henry Pickering, brother in law
  • Dame Elizabeth Pickering, sister
  • Henry Pickering, nephew
  • Honor Pickering, niece
  • Sir Richard Pigott, brother in law
  • Dame Rebecca Pigott, sister
  • Thomas Napier, cousin, son of brother in law Sir Richard Napier
  • Dame Bridgett Vyner, cousin, wife of cousin Sir Robert Vyner
  • Thomas Vyner, cousin, rector of Staunton, and wife
  • James Temple, cousin, and wife
  • Mary Dunker, cousin and husband William Dunker
  • Samuell Moore and wife, cousins
  • Thomas Harris, silversmith
  • Cousin Dinah wright, widow, son Richard
  • Cousin Elizabeth Woodcocke widow and daughters Elizabeth Lyne and Honor Woodcocke
  • Cousin Martha Vyner, daughter of Samuell deceased
  • Cousin Mary Leake wife of Francis Leake

Note that the term 'cousin' generally means a relative more distant than a brother or sister, but not necessarily the strict modern meaning.

He left 80 pounds to be used to erect a monument to his parents at St Mary Woolnoth.
