August Wilhelm von Klipstein is Notable.
- Student at Heidelberg University, member of the "Corps Westphalia" since 1821
- In 1821-1822, he attended the Forstwissenschaftliche Lehranstalt Fulda
- Student in Giessen in 1822
- In 1828, he earned his degree (Dr. phil.) from the University of Erlangen
- 1830 Forester in Neckarsteinach
- Since 1831 teacher of applied forest science at the University of Giessen
- Since 1836 Professor of mineralogy and natural sciences in Giessen
- Member of the Society of German Natural Scientists and Physicians
- In 1835, he discovered the first example of a Deinotherium skull, together with his friend Johann Jakob Kaup
- After von Klipstein's death, his vast collection of Triassic fossils was dispersed across museums in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Austria-Hungary.
