Biography

Paulina Amanda Brandt was born in Västerås 7 March 1833 to the farrier Olof Brandt and his wife Christina Elisabeth Nyholm.[1] She seems to have been orphaned early, since before she went to Stockholm in 1848, she was fostered with the rope maker Per Blomqvist and his family.[2]

She was mistress, then second wife of American Shakespearan actor, Ira Frederick Aldridge[3][4][5] She styled herself as a "countess" - so the "von" in her name is fake.

Amanda Pauline Von Brandt married Ira Frederick Aldridge on 20 Apr 1865 in St John, Penge, Surrey, England. her father's name was Uloff Von Brandt.[6]

In 1871, Amanda P Aldridge, 31, born in Stockholm, Sweden, lived in Norwood, St Mary Lambeth, London, Surrey, England. She was a Lodginghouse Keeper.[7]

In 1881, Amanda Aldridge, 41, British Subject, born in Sweden, lived in Hamlet Road, Penge, Surrey, England. She was a Teacher of Singing.[8]

In 1891, Amanda P Aldridge, 51, born in Sweden, lived in Bedford Gardens, Kensington, London, England.[9]

On 31 Mar 1901, A P Aldridge, 61, born in Sweden, lived in Kensington, London, England.[10]

In 1911, Pauline A Aldridge, 78, lived in Kensington, London, England, United Kingdom.[11]
