Biography

The daughter of Julius Vogelsberg and Mary (Elder) Vogelsberg, Gladys was born in Thetford Township in 1904.^[1][2][3] She married Randolph White in Los Angeles on May 22, 1920.^[4] The couple had one daughter, Mildred Verna White, born on January 19, 1921, when Gladys was just sixteen years old.^[5] Gladys and Randolph divorced before 1930, when Gladys and Mildred went back to her parents' home in Los Angeles.^[6]

Gladys remarried, marrying Clayton Alfred Brown (1895-1966), marrying in Orange County, California on July 3, 1936. Clayton was 41 and Gladys was 32.^[7] Clayton had a daughter from a previous marriage, Evelyn Brown, born around 1925. Gladys' daughter, Mildred, stayed with her maternal grandparents in Los Angeles; Gladys and Clayton lived in San Antonio, in Los Angeles County, where Clayton had a gardening business.^[8] Gladys passed away in Rock County, Minnesota and is memorialized at Rose Hills Memorial Park (Garden of Memories - Sec. 3, Lot 1010, Grave 2, Gate 1) in Whittier, California.^[9]
