John Paul Vincent was born on June 8, 1920 in United States, son of John Carlisle Vincent (~1883–~1963) and Gertrude Bailey (1893–1965).[1]
John died on May 26, 2008 in United States, aged 87. He was buried in Rose Hill Burial Park and Mausoleum, Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.[1]
John Paul Vincent, age 87, of Lexington, Ohio died May 26, 2008 at the Lexington Court Care Center. He was known by many and loved by all that had the pleasure to know him both in Ohio and Kentucky.
He was born June 8,1920 at Hitchens, Kentucky, a very small town located near Ashland. After graduating from Hitchens High School in 1938, he attended Morehead State University for two years and then enlisted into the Army due to World`War II. He was assigned duty in the Pacific arena from 1940 to 1945, spending his years each at Okinawa, Guadalcanal, and Biak, with short duties at New Caledonia. Most of his time was spent on the island of Biak.
Upon his return home from the war, John went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Dayton, and his Master's Degree from George Peabody College, Vanderbilt University in 1950. He dedicated his life and career to public education and his family.
He is survived by his youngest son, of Lexington, along with his daughter-in-law, and his three grandchildren, whom he adored. He was a member of the Lexington United Methodist Church of the Cross, and leaves many friends behind in his Sunday School Class.
He married his beloved wife of 53 years, Adele Glass Vincent in 1946, and she preceeded him in death in 1999. He was also preceeded in death by his oldest son, John Paul Vincent, Jr. in 1994. John and Adele were married in February, 1946 at her parent's farm in Grayson, Kentucky. They spent wonderful, happy years raising their two sons in Norwood, Ohio, where both were involved in school work. He taught high school vocational typing, shorthand, and business procedures for 35 years at Norwood High School. He was a life member of the Ohio Retired Teacher's Association. John has resided with his son in Lexington since his wife passed away in 1999.
John Vincent will be returned to eastern Kentucky for his funeral and burial at Rose Hill Memorial Park at Ashland Kentucky, to be reunited with his beloved wife.[2]
