Biography

John Stanley Verran was born in the district of Daly South Australia in 1883. He is the son of John Verran and Catherine Trembath. ^[1]

Death Of Former Labor M.P.

Mr. John Stanley Verran, of Old Port road, Queenstown, former Labor member aged 68. Mr. Verran was a son of the late Mr. John Verran, former Labor Premier of SA. He was born at Moonta in 1885 and started work in a mine at the age of 11. Mr. Verran was later employed as a clerk at Port Adelaide and was elected to the House of Assembly in 1918. He took part in the formation of the Federated Clerks' Union and became State president. He was also a former president of the Australian Government Workers' Association.^[2]
