George Venning 1837, arrived in South Australia in 1850 with his parents, three brothers and two sisters. In the early days he lived with his parents at Mount Barker Springs. Later he farmed in the Nairne district, and was for about thirty years farming nine miles from Quorn. He married Sarah Ann Chapman. He sold out and retired about 1909 -10, and his wife died since. He died at the residence of his son-in-law and only daughter at Kingswood aged 78 on 7 Feb 1915, leaving a large family of sons all married. He was a brother of WJ Venning of Crystal Brook.
