Hi Tom,

Always great to see another Whitten on WikiTree! I hope you add your grandmother's line soon. If it connects up to New England instead of through the South, we're likely to be cousins.

Thanks, Chris.

When I get a chance I'll add the Whitten line. My Whitten line goes back to a Robert Whitten, Jr., b. 1785 in South Carolina, but I haven't researched further, so I don't know if they tie back to New England. These Whittens migrated to Wilson County, Tennessee. My direct ancestor Jonathan James Easton Whitten was born in Wilson County, Tennessee, and migrated to Stone County, Missouri. Here's the note I have for Jonathan James Easton Whitten in my genealogy file: "Moved from Tennessee and homesteaded in Stone County, Missouri around 1892. Moved to Rusk County, Texas, around 1900 (after July 2, 1900 census) with his son, William Archie Whitten, after the 1897 death of his wife Mary J. Scruggs. Moved due to encouragement of James P. Scruggs, Brother-In-Law of Jonathan." Jonathan James Easton Whitten was the son of Robert Whitten by his 2nd wife, Elizabeth Cooke. Robert Whitten's 1st wife's maiden name was Easton.

Hi Tom

I connected your grandfather to James Thomas and added the locations. Not sure what the problem was. I am an autosomal tester at familytreedna but didn't see we had a match. We are related to Aaron Hinson. I have 72 matches on him currently through my 3rd great grandmother Celia Hinson Thrailkill. Looks like we are 5th cousins. Kelly

Thanks. It gave an error when I tried to connect them because my grandfather had no location info. After you updated that, it took care of the issue.

I am descended from one of the sisters of Aaron Hinson; Nancy Hinson, wife of Edmond Harris Sanders. Their daughter Martha Jane Sanders was the wife of my g-grandfather Marshall Lewis Vaughn.
