James D. Vass, son of John Vass and Mary Cameron, was born about 1861 in the state of New York, USA. ^{[1] [2]} James D. Vass and Catherine A. Smith were married about 1885. John was a teamster for a produce company in Boston. ^[3]

James died 4 Nov 1912 in Boston and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett, Massachusetts. ^[4]
