John was born in 1663/4 and christened on 24 January 1663/4. He was married in 1718 (1719 by modern dates) and died in March 1726.
He was a dramatist and architect, son of Giles Vanbrugh and Elizabeth Carleton.
There is a large amount of information about him in the Dictionary of National Biography, Vols 1-20, 22 - page 86-95.
c1702 Rivalry between John Vanbrugh and William Talman was evident at Castle Howard. Talman was known to have the company of Benjamin Jackson at this site.[1]
