Louis XI, le Prudent, Dauphin, (afterwards King) of France, eldest son and heir of Charles Valois de France VII, King of France, by Marie Anjou de France, daughter of Louis D'Anjou Anjou II, King of Sicily and Jerusalem, Duke of Anjou. He was born at Bourges (Cher) 3 July 1423.
He married Margaret (or Marguerite) Stewart, in the Cathedral of Tours (Indre-et-Loire) 24 June 1436 (as his (1st) wife). They had no issue.
Louis XI, married (2nd) Charlotte of Savory (Savoie), on 14 February 1451. Charlotte was born 11 November 1441, the daughter of Louis Savoie, Duke of Savoy and Anne (Lusignan) de Savoie of Cyprus. They eight children, three of them surviving infancy: one son, Charles VIII de Valois, King of France, and two daughters Anne de Valois, Duchess of Bourbon and Joan, Queen of France.
Louis XI, died 30 August 1483.
