William Urquhart was born in 1737, at New Machar, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and baptised on the 4th of August, the son of William Urquhart.^[1][2]

He passed away in 1804.

Research Notes

• According to unsourced research in the form of a 164 page document, found online, by Molly Urquhart, "Urquharts - Scotland to Virginia & North Carolina", this William was the son of William Urquhart and Margaret Middleton, who married in Old Machar, in 1720, and had at least 7 children. Molly also takes the line back three further generations to one Walter Urquhart. There are no family or marriages added to these earlier generations, and they do not appear to be soundly researched.

• New Machar and Old Machar are near Aberdeen, while Turriff and Monquitter Parish are much further to the north of Aberdeen. Molly suddenly has this William's father moving well over 100 miles, to be married near Aberdeen and then the children born in Aberdeen.

• Molly also lists another brother John, a Weaver, who married Ann Gordon at Old Machar in 1756, and had a son named George, who went to New Jersey and married Sarah Pittenger.
