Biography

He was married, a photographer, Latter Day Saints (Mormon). He lived at 33rd & "M" St. Vancouver, Clark County, Washington, died at home attended by the Vancouver Coroner. The funeral was 26 Jun 1912 at home with F. M. Sheehey (Missionary).

Obituary

Drops Dead From Heart Failure

Sidney Grant Updike dropped dead this morning while working in the garden at his residence on Vancouver Heights. Immediate cause of his death was heart failure.

He had been ailing for some time with heart failure and other complications, but of late had been feeling much better. Yesterday he walked down to attend church of the Latter Day Saints at Sohn’s hall and walked home again, feeling very much improved and much stronger than for several days.

He went out to do some work in the garden this morning and his wife was away calling on some neighbors. Suddenly he was stricken and fell to the ground, dying almost instantly. The children notified their mother and neighbors and the Drs. Lieser were called, but nothing could be done.

He was 48 years old and leaves a wife and six children, the eldest of which is a girl 17 years old.

The funeral will occur Wednesday at 2 p. m. from the family home. Elder S M Sheehey, a traveling missionary for the church of Latter Day Saints will officiate.

Sydney Grant was buried in 1912 in Vancouver Clark County Washington, USA. Old Vancouver City Cemetery Plot: NE 64-2 Line 16
