Several secondary sources list the wife of John Curtiss (c 1611- 1707) as Elizabeth Welles sister of Gov. Thomas Welles of Connecticut.
"He married Elizabeth Welles (supposed to have been the sister of Gov. Thomas Welles.)[1]
"married Elizabeth, who seems to have been a Welles, (for a grandson of Gov. Thomas Welles calls John Curtis 'Uncle')[2]
However, Donald Lines Jacobus, points out.
“Statements to the effect that Elizabeth was a Welles are based on a misinterpretation of a deed at Stratford; he (the governor) was called uncle by John Welles [son of Hugh] who m. his niece Sarah Curtis.”[3]
Elizabeth was born probably in England about 1611 based on her husband's age, but more likely about 1620, based on the birth of her first child in 1642.
Her marriage is also an estimated date based on the same birth
She was not called by name at the births of her children, who were registered as children of John.
Elizabeth Curtis, wife of John Curtis Sr. died at Stratford 9 Mar 1681/2.[4]

Unknown-13492 and Welles-3 appear to represent the same person because: Wife of John Curtis. Same Elizabeth. Abandoned, unsourced profile. Please review for merge. Thank you.
Robert Welles (1540) and Alice (Hunt) Welles (1543) cannot be Elizabeth's parents. Alice would be 68 yrs. old when Elizabeth was born. The parents John Welles (1588) & Mary Hollister (1592) are the more widely accepted ones. This merge brought the wrong parents forward.
