Research Notes
Eben Putnam's 1908 work cited here was followed up in 2004 by an extremely well researched and sourced book by Matthew H. and Rand M. Putnam titled "The referenced history of the Putnam family in England and America". They draw upon the work of Eben Putnam along with the very well sourced work of Norton Graham[4] along with many primary and vetted secondary sources such as NEHGR articles. This extends and in many cases corrects Eben Putnam's work. In particular it shows that it was Robert Puttenham-18, son of Roger Puttenham-42 and Margery/Margaret Unknown-147001 who married Margaret De Warbleton-1 (aka Warblington) in about 1409. Eben Putnam instead had his brother William Puttenham-16 as a son of Roger Puttenham-42 marrying Margaret De Warbleton. However, this William married Idonea Unknown-147002, supported by a court case of 1373 where she was specifically listed as wife of William Puttenham. [5]
