Alice was born in 1878. She was the daughter of Matthew Tubb and Isabella Howse. ^[1]

In the 1881 census Alice (age 3, Scholar) was living with her parents and siblings in High St, Wheatley, Oxfordshire, England. Her father was working as a registrar. ^[2]

Sadly both of Alice's parents died in the next few years- her father in 1884 and her mother in 1886. In the next census in 1891 Alice and her older sister Helen were at the Orphan Working School, Haverstock Hill, London. ^[3]

At some point prior to 1901 Alice returned to Wheatley. On the 1901 census she is boarding with Mrs Russell (postmistress) and working as a telegraphist and assistant in the post office. ^[4]

In the 1911 census Alice (age 33) was herself post mistress in Wheatley and living at the post office. ^[5]

Alice married Frederick Iles (a postman) on 2 June 1913 in Wheatley, Oxfordshire, England.^[6]

By 1939 Alice had retired and was now a widow. She was living at Bleak House, Old Rd, Wheatley, Oxfordshire, England.^[7]

Alice died in 1943 and was buried on 10 September 1943 in Wheatley, Oxfordshire, England.^{[8] [9]}
