Biography

Birth

Jabez True was born on 12 Nov 1778, the son of Benjamin True and Rhoda (Merrill) True. Where the birth occurred is not known; Benjamin and Rhoda recorded it at Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts) after they moved there in the 1790s.^[1]

Marriage

On 2 Jan 1807, Jabez True of Livermore, Maine, and Elizabeth Shepardson Allen of Wayne, Maine, (both towns were then in Massachusetts) published at Livermore their intention to marry.^[2] Their first child was recorded at Livermore on 21 Feb 1808.^[3] See the Research Note below.

Death

No record has been found of the death of Jabez True.

Research Note

Ira Thompson Monroe's 1928 history of Livermore says that Jabez True married (1) Eliza Allen and (2) Elizabeth Shepardson.^[4] The 1807 marriage intention clearly identifies Jabez's intended wife as Elizabeth Shepardson Allen, so it is likely that Jabez had just one wife.
