Biography

Florida was born in September 16, 1813 in Washington, District of Columbia.[1] She was the daughter of George Michael Troup and Ann Carter.

Florida married Thomas Marsh Bryan 19 November 19, 1834[2] at the home of her Uncle, Dr. James Troup.[1] Note: Florida's husband was the son of Joseph Bryan and Delia Foreman. In order to inherit his Grandfather's estate, Thomas M. Bryan and Florida had their names legally changed from "Bryan" to "Foreman" in 1846 by the Maryland Legislature. He inherited "Rose Hill" near Earleville, Cecil County, Maryland.[1]

Florida and Thomas had 7 children:

Florida died December 22, 1847 in childbirth on Broughton's Island near Darien, Georgia where she was living. She was buried on Wilmington Island, near Savannah, beside her husband's parents, Joseph Bryan and Delia Forman.[1]

Her father's Will written in September 1851 made provisions for "the children of Florida Troup late Florida Bryan or Foreman.[3]

Research Notes

  • Florida's date of birth is given as September 16, 1813 in Georgia Family Lines. [1] Her sister, Oralie (Troup) Vigal (1813-1879), has a date of birth given as 3 Jun 1813 (sourced from a FindAGrave memorial). Obviously one of the two dates is incorrect. Resolution needed.
