I look forward to adding information about ancestors and relatives for the benefit of fellow family researchers. I also have tested at Family Tree DNA Y-Chromosome, but this Upgrade Account form rejects that item. Joseph William Jack Triplett III.

Welcome to WikiTree and DNA.

My name is John Kingman. I am a Coordinator with the WikiTree DNA Project.

Since you are following the DNA tag, you may be interested in how DNA test matches can be used to supplement your genealogy. You will find the answers in the Help pages, of which the DNA Help category page shows all the DNA help that is available, and the How to Get Started with DNA page is highlighted.

You may see some relatives show up in your list of "DNA Connections" on your profile if they have added a DNA test to their profile. These DNA Connections are possible DNA test matches, they are not sufficient for marking parental relationships as "confirmed with DNA" without providing a DNA Confirmation source citation providing details of the DNA match.

When you are ready to start documenting that your genealogy sources are confirmed by DNA test matches, be sure to follow the guidance at the DNA Confirmation help page. Also, please try out the DNA Confirmation Citation Maker, I strongly recommend it for creating and/or validating your DNA confirmation source citations. A profile should not be marked "confirmed with DNA" without source citations for both genealogy and DNA test matching.

If you have questions or need assistance, feel free to ask on the G2G Forum using the Tag "DNA" and/or "DNA_Confirmation".

Happy hunting!

Hi Joseph,

We are so pleased you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

Joseph, here is some info that may be helpful. Maybe try some of these ideas. If nothing still works, let me know and I'll get someone to work on your issue. Sorry you are having problems. -- Jenny

Technical Difficulties If a Guest or Family Member has trouble upgrading their membership: Ask them to log out of WikiTree and then log back in. Sometimes this works. If it doesn't, got to step 2. Ask them to post a note to G2G in the WikiTree Tech section. Tell them to make sure to add the tag sysops. Their post should include the following (the more information they can provide, the better): Which browser they're using Are they on a computer, mobile phone (Android? iPhone?) or tablet (Android? iPad? Surface?)

Hi Jenny - I tried to Upgrade by filling out significant information and answering questions on the supplied form. I tried to send the information twice, but kept getting a yellow-colored box at top indicating there was an error because only males can submit Y-DNA. Is all of the information lost? I have tested for autosomal DNA at 23 & Me, Ancestry, MyHeritage and Family Tree DNA. I have tested for mitochondrial and Y-DNA at Family Tree DNA. I am male. Can you tell me why my "Upgrade" information was rejected? Thanks. Joseph William "Jack" Triplett III, email: [email address removed]

Hi Joseph,

I am the greeter currently on duty. The reason that Wikitree is not accepting your y-DNA information is that you have not selected a gender. You need to first go into your profile and select male in order for our system to accept y-DNA information.
