Ali Farka Touré was a blues guitarist from Mali best known for his work with Ry Cooder with whom he won two Grammy Awards, and his collaboration with Toumani Diabaté.[1] In politics, he was the Mayor of Niafunké in Northern Mali.

His obituary was published in The New York Times on 8 May 2006.

Touré was posthumously inducted into the World Music Hall of Fame in 2021.[2]
