Bishop Håkon is said in some texts to be the son of Torer Audunsson Tinghatt and his wife, an unknown Haftorsdatter,[1] while other literature states that Håkon's parentage is unknown. [2]
He was the father of Tore Håkonsson/Biskopsson, mentioned between 1271 and 1317 and one of the most prominent men in Norway at the time.[2]
He was the bishop in Oslo from 1248.[2]
He was on good terms with the king, and was instrumental in bringing Ingeborg, daughter of Erik Plovpenning, from Denmark to Norway to marry king Magnus Lagabøte.[2]
He donated several large landholdings to the diocese in Oslo in 1264; in return, the clergy were to say masses over the bishop and his mother when he died, and give food to 30 paupers and gifts to the churches in Oslo on his death day.[2]
He became the arch bishop of Nidaros on Shrove Thursday, 14 April, in 1267.[2]
He died 18 Aug 1267.[2]
