Biography

Oscar was born in 1892. He was the son of Henry Topsfield. His mother was Elizabeth Annie Taylor.

Oscar joined the Royal Navy on July 6, 1910.

Oscar married Catherine Viney on November 8th 1919. The wedding record informs us that Catherine was the daughter of John Thomas Viney who was a builders foreman. Oscar and Catherine were both living at 11 Park street in Southend on Sea, Essex at the time of their wedding. Oscar's fathery Henry Topsfield (deceased) is mentioned as a naval pensioner. The witnesses were Oscar's brother Richard and M Viney.

Oscar left the Navy on June 10, 1922

Oscar and Catherine had a son William A Topsfield in 1929.

In a 1939 register, Oscar was living living at 169 Hainault Avenue, Southend-on-Sea . Oscar was working as a grocer’s cellar man.

He passed away in 1974.
