Joseph POSTLETHWAITE (bachelor,) and Maria Goskar Tooke (spinster) were married on the 5 October 1848 at the Parish of St. Margaret's, in the borough of King's Lynn, in the County of Norfolk, England. Joseph was listed as being a Woolen Merchant, living at Brixton, Surrey while Maria was living at King's Lynn, Norfolk. Their fathers were listed as Thomas Postlethwaite having the profession of yeoman and Samuel Tooke being a Watchmaker. They were married in the parish church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church by licence by C. F. E. Hawkendon. Signed by Joseph POSTLETHWAITE and Maria Goskar Tooke and witnessed by 4 people including what appears to be L. M. Jacobs, H. N. Goskar, C. A. Goskar, and E. H. Wigg.[1] On the 25 Sep 1848, Joseph Postlethwaite (of Lambeth, Surrey) requested a marriage licence which was dated on 26 Sep 1848.[2]
