The remains of Mr Alfred Tonkin, whose death was reported in our columns last issue, were interred in the Kadina cemetery on Thursday, having been brought from Tumby Bay by the s.s. Rupara. Pastor T. D. Webb, of the Kadina Congregational Church, conducted the funeral service, and Mr Wm. Opie was the undertaker. A correspondent writing from Tumby Bay states that "Mr Tonkin's death caused a good deal of sorrow on the West Coast where he was well-known. In his profession as a chemist he came into contact with a large number of the people, who held him in high esteem. He had been ailing for some time, and the cause of death was heart failure. The flags at Tumby were half masted." ^[4]
